Dynamos coach Herbert Maruwa will be without three key players when his side plays Highlanders in the President’s Independence Cup on 18 April at Mt. Darwin High School.

This will be Maruwa’s first ever game against Dynamos’ fiercest rivals dubbed the battle of Zimbabwe.
Skipper Frank Makarati and Donald Mudadi who clashed heads in Dynamos’ goalless draw with Simba Bhora have been ruled out due to injury despite featuring in their team’s recent goalless draw with Cranborne Bullets.
Crowd favourite Denver Mukamba is also out of the cup tie despite playing the whole game against Cranborne Bullets.
The trio, together with goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa, did not train with the rest of the team on Thursday.
“We have Goalkeeper Prince (Tafiremutsa) out injured, Frank (Makarati) is out, Denver (Mukamba) is out, and Donald Mudadi is out.
“All four of them are out of this cup,” Maruwa said after the Thursday morning training session.
Despite the absences, Maruwa is confident that the available players will make up a strong team.
“Everybody who is registered is capable of playing. Basically, we are going to field a strong team,” the coach added.
Dynamos and Highlanders were set to clash in a Premier Soccer League match on 15 April but the game was postponed at the 11th hour to pave way for the teams’ Uhuru Cup pre-match activities.
Dynamos will be looking to avenge the 0-1 loss suffered in the same cup at Barbourfields stadium.
Stanley Ngala scored the final’s only goal in 2022.
