Struggling ZPC Kariba have appointed Luke “Vahombe” Masomere as their substantive coach, taking over from Newsome Mtema who was the club’s interim coach since the start of May.
Mtema was appointed interim after the departure of Darlington Dodo who is now at GreenFuel where he is deputising Rodwell Dhlakama.
Veteran gaffer, Masomere joins Kariba from the Eastern Region Division One side Mutare City Rovers.
ZPC Kariba are yet to issue an official statement confirming Masomere’s appointment, but sources close to the club told bhorafrika.com “it’s now a done deal”.
Masomere joins a team that has not won in the past 3 games. In that period, Kauya Katuruturu conceded 7 times and scored only once.
After 12 games, the 2014 runners up are 16th on the table with 11 points.
Before joining Mutare City Rovers, the highly-rated coach was on a three-year sabbatical having last been involved in football activities in 2019.
This was when he left Manica Diamonds, a team he had helped earn top flight league promotion in 2018.
Masomere once coached Caps United, defunct teams Amazulu, Shabanie Mine, Masvingo United, and How Mine.
He won the title with Usuthu (Amazulu) in 2003 and the BancABC Sup8r Cup with Shabine Mine in 2013.
