We are not in the title race – Manica Diamonds coach reckons other teams have better squads

DESPITE splashing on top players Donald Ngoma, Trevor Mavhunga, Panashe Mutasa and Ralph Kawondera among others, Manica Diamonds coach Jairos Tapera reckons his side is not a title contender.

Tapera joined the Mutare based side last October, replacing Johannes Nhumwa whose poor results were not proportional to funds poured into it by its diamond mining owners.

“I cannot put us in the fray of title contenders, there are teams that have been together for a year or so; some have added three but we have added nine,” said Tapera.

“We hope to win as many games as possible and see where it gets us. My target is to win as many games as possible.”

The Gem Boys have been as busy on the transfer market as giants Dynamos, champions FC Platinum and new boys Simba Bhora who are all targeting the title.
