Exactly thirteen days after being shown the exit door by Masitaoka in Botswana, nomadic Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu has been appointed Sua Flamingoes head coach.
The former Highlanders and Chicken Inn gaffer penned a one-year-deal with Sua Flamingoes who finished 8th on the log table in the previous (2022/23) campaign.
Sua Flamingoes announced the arrival of Mpofu in a statement issued Wednesday.
“Sua Flamingoes is delighted to announce the appointment of Mandla Mpofu as the Head Coach on a 1-year contract,” the club officially announced.
“Mr Mpofu has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy – everything that is important to our Club. We are excited to have Mr Mpofu join us as we prepare for the season ahead.”
He fills in the gap left by Nikola Kavazovic who resigned as Flamingoes head coach on 28 June 2023, six months after his appointment by the club on January 15.
Mpofu becomes the second Zimbabwean coach to join Flamingoes after veteran Rahman “Rush” Gumbo was axed by the club for poor results in December 2022.
Too nomadic this one. Teams like recycling coaches and expect different results. I really do not think he is the right guy as a head coach I could give him the benefit of doubt if he is assisting someone
