First half goals by Brian Muza and lanky forward Malvin Hwata ground to a halt Madamburo’s unbeaten run on the 10th try this season.
In fact, Muza and Hwata’s quick goals in the 40th and 43rd minute ended Ngezi Platinum’s 19-match unbeaten run stretching back to the 2021/22 season.
The Mhondoro based side had last lost a league match on 13 August 2022; a 1-0 defeat away to Cranborne Bullets.
The Takesure Chiragwi coached side had so far won four and drawn five. They top the PSL log on goal difference, ahead of Highlanders who are also on 17 points.
“We lost the game with dignity. We did everything that we were supposed to do. The first goal was through a set piece and they got the second after a mistake from our defender who lost the ball in a dangerous area and we were punished,” said Chiragwi.
“The general assessment of the game is that l think we played our normal game. This is one of the best games we have played this season in terms of performance.”
