The 34 member panel is tasked with representing active players with international experience on issues that include international match calendars and employment standards.

Munetsi joins Italy legend Giorgio Chiellini who now plays for Los Angeles FC, former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Arturo Vidal and Ghana international Andre Ayew among others.

“Being a part of the Global Player Council means we can help footballers worldwide – such as protecting players against fake agents, or against government interference. I’m eager to get started,” said Munetsi.

The Warriors are on an indefinite international football ban following government’s move to interfere at the country’s football association.
