Bulawayo giants Highlanders’ versatile player Godfrey ‘Godera’ Makaruse has attracted interest from Botswana Premier League champions Jwaneng Galaxy, bhorafrika.com has learnt.
This publication understands Jwaneng Galaxy is keen to sign the 27-year-old who is one of the longest serving members in the current Bosso squad.
A source privy to the development told bhorafrika.com that “Galaxy are eager to sign the speedy winger”.
The source also revealed that Galaxy is considering establishing a formal partnership with Bosso to buy players from the 2006 champions.
It comes after the Morena Ramoreboli-coached side were impressed by the former Highlanders pair of Nqobizatha Masuku and Daniel Msendami.
The duo played a pivotal role as Galaxy got crowned 2022/23 champions with Msendami scoring seven goals while Masuku was key in the midfield.
It is not yet clear whether Bosso, who are aiming to end a 17 year title drought, are willing to cash-in on Makaruse or they want to keep their player.
Godera, a seasoned player who plays both as a winger and a left back, has one year left on his contract with an option to extend his stay by another year.
The Makokoba-born attacker extended his stay at Bosso in September 2022.
“We are pleased to announce that Godfrey Makaruse has extended his contract with the club until 2024 with an option for a further year,” the club announced in a statement.
Makaruse joined Highlanders from the now defunct Amazulu in 2010 as a 14-year old boy and rose through the ranks.
