CAPS United Coach Lloyd Chitembwe reckons his side’s Chibuku Super Cup semifinal clash with crosstown rivals Dynamos is going to be very tough for them.

Chitembwe has already lost twice to Dynamos in the league, conceeding three in their two encounters without reply.

A tight schedule of Castle Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches has not been friendly and Chitembwe will resume training on Wednesday having given his charges 48 hour rest with hope they will be up to Sunday’s task.

“We have had a very hectic period. We have been travelling, we have been playing matches and training; trying to balance up was always never going to be easy,” said Chitembwe.

“You know, we were playing week in and week out. So it’s not going to be easy. Some of these things are signs of fatigue.

“This is the nature of this job and the players understand that and it’s up to us to try and work on it; give them enough rest before an important game that’s coming up against Dynamos.

“We will try and give them that much time so that they regenerate their bodies and hopefully get a sense of freshness, come Sunday next week.”

Caps United might be in the Chibuku Super Cup semis but their season has not been that rosy.

Up till recently they had been fighting relegation before two time Soccer Star of the Year Ronald Chinyengetete turned on the heat and steered the team to three wins on the trot and a draw last weekend.

They now sit on position eight after 29 games; 20 points from the top and six points clear of the relegation zone.

Dynamos on the other hand seem to have found top gear. They sit second in the league and now fancy successful runs in both competitions.

None of the two has won this cup since its reintroduction. Winning it will assure either of a place in CAF’s second tier Confederations Cup.

Black Rhinos hosts table topping Ngezi Platinun at Bata Stadium, Gweru in the other semifinal.
