Twelve weeks into the Premier Soccer League [PSL] season, Hwange Football Club striker Brighton Makopa has set himself a target to reach double figures, the 23-year-old revealed to Bhorafrika.
This means Makopa wants to reach or surpass the 10 goal mark this season.
He told this publication: “I’m happy that I have been finding the net this season. I have set myself a target to score over 10 goals, in fact, 12 goals is my target but if I surpass that target its a bonus.”
The former Bulawayo City striker is second on the goal scorers chart with five goals, three behind leading scorer Fortune Binzi of Manica Diamonds.
Makopa once led the PSL’s top goal scorers chart with four goals after six games.
However, his scoring form dipped and he went for four games without a goal.
But last week, the Highlanders juniors product came off the bench to sink Herentals at National Sports Stadium.
He was introduced in the second half when the Coalminers were trailing 1-0 and equalised after the hour mark to score his fifth of the season.
Makopa’s impact was also felt in the 90th minute when he provided an assist for Courage Sibanda who scored the winning goal for Chipangano.
The former Mpopoma High Student will be hoping to continue with his scoring form when Hwange host Manica Diamonds at Colliery Stadium Sunday.
