Following last season’s relegation from the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Northern Regions Soccer League (NRSL) side Harare City are itching to make a quick return to playing the country’s top flight football.

Thirteen games into the NRSL season, Harare City is fifth on the log with 24 points, five behind leaders Black Mambas.

City’s head coach Joseph Takaringofa revealed the club’s aspirations to bhorafrika.com Wednesday after beating Golden Eagles 1-0 at Motor Action Sports Club.

“Definitely, we [Harare City] want to make a quick [PSL] return,” he said.

21-year old defender Solomon Muboyi scored the winner in the first half.

There was a massive player exodus at City after their relegation.

Takaringofa believes it could affect the club’s quest to make a quick PSL return.

“The problem is most players we had last season left the club.

“We are working with new players but I’m happy they are getting it right,” Takaringofa added.

The Sunshine Boys were relegated from the top flight league last season with a game to spare the 2021/22 campaign.

City, who were under Tawurai Mangwiro, now with Orapa United in Botswana, finished on position 15 out of 18 on the log table with 35 points in 34 games.

After their demotion they lost several key players including Hastings Chapusha, Donald Mudadi and Donald Dzvinyai.

In search of greener pastures, Mudadi and Dzvinyai landed at Dynamos while Chapusha is with Caps United.

However, the Municipality side still has seasoned players in their books.

These include Timothy January formerly with defunct How Mine as well as ex-Highlanders and Dynamos winger Cleopas Kapupurika.

Other players with top flight football experience who could aid Harare City’s fight for promotion are Byron Madzokere, Jerry Chipangura, Evidence Tendai, Peace Makaha, Tendai Nyamandwe, and Kelvin Shangiwa.
