Current coach Dr Joseph Sibindi is said to have decided to leave Bulawayo Chiefs, barely two months after replacing Lizwe Sweswe who is now at fellow Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Sheasham FC.
It comes after Sibindi, a sports science lecturer at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), reportedly confided his annoyance at the manner in which the club is being administered.
It is believed Sibindi, formerly with relegated Bulawayo City, complained that Chiefs “does not have correct structures in order to succeed.”
Although no official communication has been shared yet, impeccable sources within the club told bhorafrika.com that Nhumwa was in charge of Tuesday’s training session.
“(Johanisi) Nhumwa was in charge of today’s (Tuesday) training session. Sibindi arrived at the ground but left a few minutes after his arrival. He has been demotivated by the club in the past weeks.”
Nhumwa might be in charge of Chiefs on Sunday when they square-off against city rivals Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium.
They face-off in the first round of the 2023 Chibuku Super Cup.
Meanwhile, players at the club are also said to be contemplating a boycott.
They say the club is yet to pay them their dues after winning the same cup last season.
They beat Herentals 1-0 at the same venue.
