Former Dynamos striker, Norman Maroto, has backed Jayden Bakare to score goals despite missing a sitter when the Glamour Boys drew 0-0 with Manica Diamonds at National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Maroto, who happens to be the last striker to score the most goals (22) in a season since 2010 Gunners FC, sees the miss as a normal part of a striker’s game.
“I missed more [chances] than the ones I scored.
“He (Barake) has to keep getting into those positions, and he will get it right,” Maroto tweeted.
Bakare was introduced as a second half substitute, replacing Keith Madera as Dynamos sought to boost their attack.
The Herbert Maruwa led technical team thought the introduction of Bakare would help them break the deadlock after failing to convert in the first half.
The forward’s introduction saw Eli Ilunga pushing wide to the right wing while Bakare slotted into the central striking role.
The youthful forward was well positioned to score from an Issa Sadiki cross but he completely missed the ball.
After the game, Maruwa rued the chances but indicated that with time, his strikers will become more confident and goals will eventually come.
He actually liked the way his team played despite missing scoring opportunities.
The coach hinted that they will play the same way when they visit Highlanders on Africa day to fulfil their match day 5 encounter which was postponed to allow the teams to participate in the Independence Cup on 18 April.
