The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the dates for the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.
CAF has also asked member associations to confirm their interest to take part in the competition before the end of July
The first round of the qualifiers will be played between 22-24 September 2023 (1st leg) and the return (2nd) leg is scheduled for 6th to 8th October 2023.
Dates December 15-17 have been set for the first leg of the 2nd round of the games while the second legs will take place on 22-24 in the same month.
The third and final round of the qualifiers are slated for 8-10 March 2024 (first leg) and 15-17 March (2nd leg).
CHAN is a biennial tournament that is organised by CAF for its member associations and all participating nations should consist of players playing in their domestic leagues.
Zimbabwe has played the competition three times since its inception in 2009, their best performance being a 4th place finish in 2014.
The Warriors missed the qualifiers of the 2022 edition due to the country’s suspension from international football.
However, with the suspension having been lifted by FIFA on 10 July, Zimbabwe will participate in the 2024 Chan qualifiers if the normalisation committee accepts CAF’s invitation.
